This years Olympic Summer Games will henceforth be known as the James Bond Olympics. Britain is beaming with pride as Daniel Craig, the current 007, has conspired with Queen Elizabeth herself to shoot a short film for the opening ceremonies at London 2012.
The film, entitled “The Arrival”, features the sexpot secret agent traveling to Buckingham Palace after receiving word that his next mission is to launch the 2012 Summer Games. Bond is then taken by helicopter to the Olympic Stadium in east London where he’ll drop into the arena via parachute! According to The Guardian, the artistic director of the opening ceremonies and Craig were both given “unprecedented access” to the Queen’s private rooms. Sounds like the Queen was indulging in a little 007!
Not only is 2012 the Queen’s diamond jubilee, it also marks the 50th year that Bond, James Bond has served as the world’s favorite fictional spy. We all have the Nintendo ’64 game to prove it.
The film short serves to whet our appetites for ever-so-smooth Daniel Craig’s return to the big screen as the spy who loved us in “Skyfall”, premiering this November. Here’s hoping there is a high “shirt:no shirt” ratio in new flick!
