John Mayer Katy Perry Dating

It looks like Katy Perry might be rebounding from her marriage to Russel Brand in a BIG way– Girlfriend was spotted leaving the Chateau Marmont with John Mayer last night! Ok, ok, so that doesn’t exactly mean they’re dating, but let’s be serious, with Mayer’s track record, we think it’s safe to assume that they’re getting it on!

Earlier this week Us Weekly reported that the two have started dating, but this is the first time they’ve stepped out in public together.

We have to ask… What happened to the Florence + The Machine guitarist she was dating?!

Check out more pictures of the maybe-couple (including the most rapey stare you’ve ever seen anyone give ever) below the cut!

John Mayer Sick 2012

It looks like 2012 isn’t going to be the year John Mayer thought it would.

After spending the last two years battling granuloma, a growth that forms where the vocal cords connect and can be a career-ruiner for singers, Mayer announced that he had made a full recovery and would be going on a world tour to promote his upcoming album Born and Raised, but his health has taken a turn for the worst.

Mayer wrote in his blog that during a rehearsal with the band, he was hit with a realization that he should see his doctor as “something didn’t feel/sound right,” and he’s lucky he did, because they made a pretty important discovery:

“I went in for a visit [to my doctor] on Wednesday and a scope of my vocal cords revealed that the granuloma has grown back where it had mostly healed. This is bad news. Because of this, I have no choice but to take an indefinite break from live performing… It will sideline me for a longer period of time than I care to have you count down.”

So what’s that mean for the tour? You guessed it– Cancelled.

Mayer goes on to say that Born and Raised will be released as scheduled and he will take the time he would have spent on touring to write another new album.

“I’m pretty emotionally burnt out at the moment, but please know how hard I tried to resolve this and how disappointed I am that I can’t perform this record yet. I’m completely bummed, especially for all of you who started making plans to see a show. Nothing feels worse than having to break the stage down before the performance, and I mean nothing. I love this band you were going to hear, I love the guys and girls I work with, and the only thing that stops me from devolving into a puddle of tears is knowing that it’s a long life, and the greatest gift in the world is being able to create music no matter what the circumstances. So these are the new circumstances, and I’ll find a way to make it mean something. That’s all you can ever do.”

How sad!

If you haven’t yet, check out the first single off of the new album, Shadow Days, below. We think this would have sounded GREAT live– What do you think?

John Mayer Shadow Days

Since being diagnosed with granuloma and having to undergo extensive throat surgery, John Mayer has kept an unusually low profile: No major public appearances, no new music, and obviously no touring. But it looks like his silent days are over!

Mayer turned to his Tumblr page this morning to share a one-minute soundbite of his new single Shadow Days, saying:

“I’m excited to share the first bit of sound from the album. Been looking forward to a post like this since October 14, 2010, the first day I started writing this group of songs. Enjoy.”

And enjoy we did! The song sounds amazing and we can’t wait to hear the rest (granted that may be a little bias, seeing as we’re madly in love with the bruiting singer).

Check out the new tune below!
