It’s official! The new judge panel for American Idol is going to destroy X-Factor with its amazing star-studded ensemble!

After months of speculation that Kanye West and others were being considered for judges on the hit show, it turns out that it has been confirmed that Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Mr. Nicole Kidman  country singer, Keith Urban will be the new judges and will make us all forget about Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler!

Oh, Mimi…

Mariah Carey has been fairly quiet on the music front lately after the disappointment that was Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, but Mariah is gearing up for a comeback in a big way. We’ve told you before that she has signed on to be a judge on American Idol and now she’s releasing the lead single from her upcoming album.

Entitled Triumphant (Get ‘Em), the single is rapper-heavy featuring Rick Ross AND Meek Mill. With two rappers appearing heavily on the song, where is Mariah? Good question as she appears to be more of a featured artist on her own single! That’s not to say that it’s a bad song by any means, but those hoping for a classic Mariah song like Always Be My Baby or We Belong Together will be disappointed. The uplifting theme of the song is appropriate for the Olympics though so hopefully she can score a hit while people are in a triumphant state of mind!

Think of how much Hello Kitty merchandise she can buy now! Mariah Carey, who we previously told you was rumored to be replacing Jennifer Lopez for the next season of American Idol, has just been confirmed officially and we’re VERY excited by the news! She’s reported to be making somewhere in the 12-17 million dollar range for the gig. Nice work if you can get it…

Kevin Reilly, the Fox entertainment president, said: “It’s the biggest recording artist than any of these shows have ever had. It’s an artist many of these contestants have tried to emulate. [The deal] only concluded only hours ago. Not being the only game in town we need to keep things fresh.”

We recently reported that Jennifer Lopez was entertaining the idea of leaving American Idol this season and now that Aerosmith frontman, Steven Tyler has also confirmed that he’s leaving the show, the producers are scrambling to get a big name as a celebrity judge and it turns out that Jennifer Lopez’s archrival, Mariah Carey is in talks to replace her!
