Mary J. Blige

Mary Jane Blige was born on January 11th 1971 in The Bronx, New York. She is a singer-songwriter who has won nine Grammy Awards and is known for hits like Family Affair and Just Fine. She has also acted in films like I Can Do Bad All By Myself and Rock of Ages. She has also received Golden Globe nominations for songs she contributed to the films Bobby and The Help.

We’re getting pretty pumped for Rock of Ages around the Gossip offices and just got more excited! Not only did the cast perform on Dancing With The Stars but they have also released a music video for Any Way You Want It, a cover of the amazing Journey song.

The clip, intended for the UK but made available everywhere thanks to the powers of the Internet, featuring the vocal talents of Mary J. Blige, Constantine Maroulis and Julianne Hough.

Gotta say – it sounds and looks pretty awesome. Agree? The soundtrack hits shops on June 5th with the movie coming out ten days later. Will you be seeing it/buying the soundtrack? Watch the video after the cut and let us know what you think!

Burger King MJB Ad

If you checked out any of the new celebrity-packed Burger King ads this past week (featuring the likes of David Beckham, Jay Leno, Salma Hayek and Mary J. Blige) you hopefully enjoyed seeing the Blige ad – as it has now been pulled!

Almost as soon as it aired, the Internet started buzzing about the odd ad and the differences between it and the other ones in the series, with some calling it racist. Others think it’s a big deal about nothing, but Burger King has notably pulled the ad from the air and from their YouTube channel! Btw Blige reportedly received two million dollars for the ad!

Burger King released a statement saying “The Mary J. Blige advertisement has been pulled due to a licensing issue. BURGER KING® expects to have the Blige ads back on air soon.” Hmm… Click the jump to read how it’s being received and tell us what you think if you got to see it!
