One of our favorite actresses around here, Charlize Theron, has just adopted a beautiful boy named Jackson! Details are scarce at this point, but we couldn’t be happier for her! We’ll admit we were mostly in the ‘just another pretty face’ category about her until her unbelievable Oscar-winning turn in Monster made everyone wake up to the talent she possesses. To celebrate her exciting news, go pick up a copy of her latest amazing performance in Young Adult (pictured above), which came out on video yesterday. We’re still mad she was snubbed for an Oscar this year and after you see it, we bet you’ll agree with us. Click past the jump to read some recent comments Young Adult (and Juno and Up In The Air) director Jason Reitman had to say about why it was Charlize or no one for the main role!
While promoting the video release of Young Adult, Reitman has revealed that there was never anyone else in mind for the lead role in his latest film, saying: “…[B]asically I finally hung my decision on whether or not Charlize would say yes. … Yeah, it was literally Charlize or bust. … When she first read it, she wanted to make sure our vision was clear. It’s a very tricky film that all balances on her ability to play that role. We had already spoken and met and were fond of each other and wanted to work together, but this is the kind of role where the actor really has to trust her director because she could totally be left hung out to dry.”
We’re certainly glad she ended up taking on the role. If you’ve seen it, tell us what you thought of it in the comments. Congratulations, Charlize!
