Demi Lovato has slowly been talking more and more about her ‘dark’ phase nearly two years ago, and it seems like every day we learn it was worse than she had originally led on to believe.

At first her reps had said she was taking some time off after a physical altercation with a back-up dancer, then we learned she was bulimic, then she admitted to self-harming, then she announces she was bipolar, and now we’re getting an insight to just how out of control her drug problem got at the time.

Although the singer admitted to self-medicating with prescription pills and cocaine, it sounds like she was doing a lot more than that. The singer has opened up about how club promoters would give her all kinds of drugs in an attempt to get her to come back, and according to the singer, it worked.

”Promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs. They wanted me to come back so I would be seen there. They were basically kissing my ass. I thought they were my friends. I thought I was having fun. Being a celebrity can be dangerous. Nobody says ‘no’. That’s why so many end up overdosing and dying. It could definitely have happened to me.”

Damn, girl! We’re glad she finally got herself cleaned up. But what led to her turning to drugs in the first place?

”What I can say is that I was depressed. I would come off stage in front of 18,000 people and suddenly be alone in a hotel room. I’d come crashing down and would try to find a way to recreate that feeling, to stay ‘up’.”
