Any fan of Back To The Future knows the ins and outs of the movie secrets by now. Twin Pines mall becomes Lone Pines Mall when Marty reaches the future, Huey Lewis was the one who tells Marty that his Huey Lewis song was too loud for the talent show, blah blah blah… But one thing has always remained a mystery to the fans about the movie: Who the hell was that shredding the guitar in the scene where Marty blasts his walkman into his dad’s ears while he was sleeping?
Well according to Eddie Van Halen, it was Eddie Van Halen!
The tape Michael J Fox inserts into the 80s version of an iPod says ‘Van Halen’ on it, but movie goers have debated for over 25 years on whether or not it was really him playing the tunes, and now we know the deal: Yesterday the paparazzi caught up with the rock star and asked him about the movie when Van Halen admitted that the tape that was being played was really him ripping on his six string!
So what exactly was it that he was playing?
Van Halen claims that it was never a real song, and that he was simply “Just playing a bunch of noise” when they recorded the 6 second clip.
Right when you thought Back To The Future couldn’t get any cooler, you learn Van Halen’s in it. Wicked.
