Gangster-Squad-pic

With the horrific shooting that took place last week during a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises, one of the results is that the trailer (which we’d shared with you before) for the upcoming gangster period piece Gangster Squad was pulled due to a scene that features a shooting in a cinema.

The studio was previously unsure whether they would re-edit the scene or move the film, but it turns out the scene is quite pivotal to the film and now they’ve decided to push the release until next year. The studio is now unsure of its release date and is deciding if it will cut the scene and add new material, which would involve costly re-writes and reshoots, or see if it feels more appropriate to release the film as-is next year. The release we’re hearing rumblings of is now January 11th, instead of the original date of September 7th.

While this is obviously a very complicated issue, we want to know your thoughts. Keep the movie as it is or change it to try and avoid being insensitive? Let us know in the comments!
