We recently reported that Jennifer Lopez was entertaining the idea of leaving American Idol this season and now that Aerosmith frontman, Steven Tyler has also confirmed that he’s leaving the show, the producers are scrambling to get a big name as a celebrity judge and it turns out that Jennifer Lopez’s archrival, Mariah Carey is in talks to replace her!

A source close to PEOPLE magazine had this to say about the news:

“[Mariah's] in play, they are in serious talks.”

We have to admit that this would be a welcome change and considering the fact Mariah Carey can ACTUALLY sing,(sorry…J.LO, but you’re a dancer, not a singer.) we think she would be the perfect choice for a celeb judge.
