New Saturday Night Live Cast Member Kate McKinnon

Get ready for your daily dose of jealousy lady comedians, because Saturday Night Live just added a new cast memeber and unless you’re Kate McKinnon, it’s not you.

Deadline is reporting that Lorne Michaels has successfully found his first successful candidate in the 2012 auditions for the live sketch comedy show with one of the female leads of Logo’s Big Gay Sketch Show.

Although it hasn’t been announced whether McKinnon will join the cast immediately or if her debut will wait until the fall premier, but rumor has it that she’s not going to be the only newbie showing up in the foreseeable future.

With the unexpected exit of Paul Britain and assumed exits at the end of the season of regular cast members Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader and Abby Elliot, the show is said to be looking for several new featured and regular comedians to join the show, and so far the front runners are said to be all females: Jessica Joy, Lauren Lapkus and Elaine Carroll.

UPDATE: NBC has confirmed that McKinnon will join the cast effective immediately, making her debut on the upcoming episode featuring host Sophia Vergara and musical guests One Direction.
