If we were still 14-years-0ld, we would currently be throwing a hissy fit over the fact that our parents won’t fly us to London to see what is sure to be the greatest Olympic closing ceremony of all time. Today, for the first time in nearly 5 years, the Spice Girls got together to rehearse for their big Olympic ender.
A writer for the Sunday Mirror, Dean Piper, reported today that all 5 of the original band members were on hand to go through their final number, Tweeting: “So the Spice Girls are all together rehearsing for the Olympics RIGHT NOW in London.#itsonb*tches…Pretty bloody exciting! #spicegirls. I’d like a Spice medley!!! No idea what they’re singing…”
Sure a no-name British reporter may not be the most reliable source, but later on Posh Spice herself posted a picture of her iconic microphone on her Twitter account with the caption: “Look what I found!! X vb”.
As excited as we are for the performance, it’s going to be pretty bitter-sweet: According to friends of the band, Victoria only greed to participate in the performance with the agreement that it will be their last one together… ever.
The Spice Girls will stand alongside One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Pink Floyd and the Queen herself for the closing ceremonies on August 12.
