Pop-country mega star Taylor Swift may have a great life in the spotlight, but things are far from peachy at home: Swifts parents, Andrea and Scott, are apparently in the process of filing divorce papers.

The Swifts, who have been married for nearly 25 years, have been privately separated for nearly two years, but have been afraid of the backlash it would have caused on Taylor’s career and have held off on filing official papers. Friends close to the couple are now saying that both parties have moved on from the relationship to the point that they want to make it official.

“She’s been going through a lot,” said a friend of Taylor’s. “The new album will showcase the pain of her parents’ separation.”

We’re actually really sad for her! Divorce is never easy on the kids. Maybe we’ll get a new Dear John-esq heart break song from it!
