Wow we have new respect for Katie Holmes. Apparently she’s filed for divorce to Tom Cruise. That’s right, the couch jumping man who professed his undying love to Katie Holmes and the perky actress who often sports cold sores on her crooked smile are headed for divorce court. During some point in the last five years Katie has grown what looks to be a backbone and is demanding sole custody. For more on this news, keep reading.

Katie Holmes wants sole custody!

Katie filed for divorce in New York City on June 28. She wants sole legal custody and “primary residential custody” of her 6-year-old daughter, Suri. Girlfriend is also asking for a “suitable amount” of child support.

Although 5 years is pretty good by Hollywood’s standards, that still won’t make things any easier on poor little Suri Cruise since a custody battle is sure to ensure. Here’s what to Katie’s attorney had to say…

“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family.”… “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”

Of course Tom and Katie have a prenup. agreement.  We’re sure though Tom won’t let the mother of his child starve and Katie can still get crappy roles in B-movies so she’ll be alright. We’re curious about what Tom Cruise and his publicist will say about this.
