Despite the fact that former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno enabled a convicted child rapist by not coming forward with the information he had for decades, former talk show host Regis Philbin has come forward to say that it “broke his heart” that the university has taken down the statue of the now tainted coach.

Philbin spoke to paparazzi yesterday about the removal, saying “I think the Penn State sanctions were overdone … really excessive in so many ways,” and that it “hurt a lot of people who had nothing to do with this whole thing.” Really, Philbs? It was taking down the statue that hurt a lot of people? Not letting dozens of children be sexually molested over a 20+ year span because your buddy Paterno would rather win football games than say something to the authorities?? Riiight.

We guess the best solution here would be for him to just turn and look the other way if he’s uncomfortable with what’s happening…?
