A few hours ago, the upcoming blockbuster sequel The Dark Knight Rises reportedly received a PG-13 rating from the MPAA and already fanboys and movie bloggers are lashing out via Twitter and every other social media network about the decision to make the final Batman movie from Christopher Nolan into a much despised “kid-friendly” film.
Everybody needs to chill the hell out and we at Gossip Overload will tell you why after the jump!
Many fanatics and movie bloggers are blaming the success of The Hunger Games (which was rated PG-13) for the rating The Dark Knight Rises is now branded. However, these same people are forgetting that although Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were both dark and violent, they were also rated PG-13 as well!
These days PG-13 films feature just as much violence as R rated films and the only real difference between PG-13 and R rated films is cursing. Do you really want to hear the inaudible Bane and Batman drop F bombs left, right and center? NO? Then calm down already!
PG-13 does not necessarily mean the movie will be tame. Some of the most disturbing parts in The Dark Knight left the grisly outcome to the viewers’ imaginations and we predict the same will happen in The Dark Knight Rises.
So what do you guys think about this news? Are you disappointed or do you think the rating won’t hurt your enjoyment of the film? Let us know in the comment section below!
